• DESCRIPTION: From Locupletissimi Rerum Naturalium Thesauri Accurata Descriptio et Iconibus Artificiosissimis Expressio… this plate illustrates various species of day-flying butterflies. All of the specimens shown were brought from the Philippine Islands, with the exception of those numbered 13 through 16. Published between 1734 and 1765, Seba’s Thesaurus is esteemed for its remarkable engravings that blend scientific study with artistic grace.
