  • DESCRIPTION: A fine map from the French edition of John Marshall's "Life of George Washington." This work, the standard biography of Washington for many years, was immensely popular. It was accompanied by an atlas of maps devoted primarily to the Revolutionary War.. Most of the maps show cities and areas in both the northern and southern colonies where significant battles occurred. In addition to topography and political boundaries, they often locate British and American troop emplacements. This map depicts Revolutionary War troop movements leading north from Westchester and culminating in the Battle of White Plains.
